Free training sessions on Safety Assessment & Intervention now offered
The Ohio Department of Education is offering free, evidence-based school violence prevention trainings to school personnel and students statewide using U.S. Department of Justice grant funding allocated through the STOP School Violence Act. The threat assessment training is provided at no cost to districts in the 2019-2020 school year, part of a three-year training initiative. Instruction is based on Safety Assessment & Intervention, a proven, Know the Signs program. The sessions teach multi-disciplinary, school-based teams how to identify and respond to threats of violence or at-risk behavior before a tragedy takes place.
Districts interested in bringing their school-based teams to a training will find updated information, including the full list of trainings for the 2019-2020 school year, and a link to registration on the Department’s website.
