Expiration Date Extension and Licensure Renewal

As a result of the COVID-10 pandemic, the Ohio Department of Education is providing flexibility regarding the licensure renewal deadline. ALL licenses previously set to expire on July 1, 2020, have now been extended to July 1, 2021. This license expiration extension allows educators additional time to complete their requirements for renewal. Educators may need to adjust their individual professional development plans as needed.

Educators must complete their required professional development and renew their currently expiring license(s) before July 1, 2021, or an additional three semester hours of professional education coursework will be required for renewal of their expired license(s). The additional coursework requirement is not applicable to individuals renewing their pupil services licenses with verification of their active Ohio board license, nor those renewing their substitute teaching licenses, educational aide, pupil activity or adult education permits.
